ETIAS is valid for three years
In future, anyone who has an ETIAS permit issued can use it to enter the Schengen area for three years. If, however, the conditions for this are no longer fulfilled before that time, the permit will of course lapse. This is most often the case when the passport expires. Like ESTA, ETIAS is linked to the passport. If the passport is valid for two more years, then ETIAS is also only valid for that period.
With ETIAS, the traveler can travel 90 days within a 180-day period. When filling in the form, the traveler indicates the country he/she will enter first. This is mandatory. For the later entries, this is no longer important, he can move freely within the entire Schengen area.
It is important to note that although the ETIAS permit is a necessary condition for entry, it is not accompanied by a guarantee that the border will be crossed. The border official ultimately decides whether to let the traveller cross the border. In most cases there are no problems
When filling out: Five minutes concentration
The application can only be filled out online. It is therefore not possible to fill it out at home and hand it in at a consulate.
Most people have Internet access and a corresponding terminal device. This does not necessarily mean a computer. This device is becoming less and less important. Many users surf with their cell phone or tablet. This is not a problem. The page adapts to the terminal device and so the application can be filled out quickly. The confirmation can be printed, but does not have to be. The system works online, which means that the data is transmitted electronically.
It is important that the data is correct. If the passport number or date of birth does not match the information on the passport, ETIAS loses its validity. Under certain circumstances, the plane may then take off without the tourist.
If you don't have Internet, you can also have the application filled out by an agency or a friend, this is no problem. This also applies to the payment method.
After the application is sent, the approval usually comes immediately. If there are any ambiguities, it can take a while. For this reason, it is important to fill out the application as early as possible at the beginning of the travel preparations.
A rejection will only happen in very rare cases. Should it happen, the traveler can appeal against it.
