For older people, however, it can be problematic to read the small font. Those who think they can't fill out the form simply ask a friend or acquaintance. Unlike a visa, a passport is not required. This must be presented only when crossing the border. Therein lies a problem. If the passport data is not transferred correctly, the application is invalid. This is not noticed when the application is approved. The tourist travels to the border and wants to cross it. She or he must surrender the passport. The border official finds out that other values are entered and will refuse the border crossing. Whoever fills out the application must do so very carefully. After four weeks at the latest, the authorities must make a decision. The traveler can appeal against this. Although such a delay is not to be expected, it is nevertheless better to submit the application in good time.
