Fill in ETIAS - with and without computer

Undefined

It will probably take another two years before ETIAS becomes a reality for citizens outside the Schengen states. Nevertheless, it is good to get a little bit involved now. The additional task of filling out an ETIAS application may be inconvenient for some travelers, but it is necessary. It improves the security of all people in the Schengen area, including the traveller himself.

The application can be easily filled in online

No forms are required for travel preparations to the Schengen area. Everything the traveler needs can be found in an online portal. There he must enter his personal data. It goes without saying that these are encrypted using the latest technology.

The travel document is necessary to fill out the form. The data must be transferred exactly into the ETIAS form. A small mistake can have fatal consequences. In the worst case ETIAS will become invalid and the journey cannot be started. This is unpleasant because the travel document does not have to be submitted before the journey. If there is an error in it, the officials will only find out when crossing the border. Then it is often already too late for a new application and the plane takes off without the traveler.

The number of the passport must be entered very carefully. Experience shows that this is where most mistakes happen. Also the name must be entered according to the official document. Some applicants are so used to a short form that they almost forget what their full first name is. In this case the tourist should better also orientate himself by the passport.

This is how people without a computer and Internet fill out the form

Most people have Internet access and a corresponding terminal device. This does not necessarily have to be a computer. A cell phone or tablet can also be used to fill out the document. If you do not have Internet access, ask a relative, acquaintance or friend. If this is not possible, there are agencies that fill out the document for the traveler. To do so, he or she must hand in his or her passport or transmit the data.
