What happens after sending the ETIAS application
A separate application form must be filled in for each traveller. Approval will only be granted once the fee has been paid. Different payment methods are available depending on the country of origin.
Now the participant is checked. The system retrieves information from different databases. In 95 percent of all cases, it is unsuccessful. The applicant receives an ETIAS entry permit within a short time.
If there is a hit, the data set is forwarded to the member countries. The European Border and Coast Guard now checks the application. Now the processing time can be extended by up to 96 hours. Sometimes the authorities require further information from the applicant. In unclear cases, the decision must be made within four weeks. Here too, most applicants receive an entry permit. Once the decision has been made, the applicant receives a positive or negative decision. If entry is not to be granted, the applicant will receive a reason for the refusal.
