Australia is one of the so-called "Eligible Countries", i.e. the countries whose inhabitants can enter the Schengen area after the introduction of ETIAS. Australia has an area of around 7.6 million square kilometres and is home to 25.8 million people.

Germany is one of the founding countries of the EU. Germany was already one of the signatory states when the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community was signed in 1951. In 957, Germany signed the Treaty of Rome, which established the European Economic Community, and it was also a signatory to the Treaty on European Union in 1992. Germany was also one of the five founding countries that signed the Schengen Agreement on 14 June 1985, which was implemented in March of the following year.

Entry into the Schengen area for citizens of the USA

Until now, travellers from the USA have been able to enter the Schengen area without a visa. This will change from the end of 2022, when US citizens will have to fill out an ETIAS form. The effort is relatively small, but the increase in security for all citizens in the Schengen area and for the traveller himself is enormous.
