Disclosing data on the Internet is a problem for many people. They think that afterwards they will receive unwanted advertising messages or worse. It is good that more and more people are concerned with data protection. With ETIAS, on the other hand, there is no danger. It is a state institution, so the traveller does not need to worry about the processing and storage of his data.

The Data Protection Regulation

Travellers who want to enter the Schengen area will have to change from the end of 2022. Many think this is a good thing, some are annoyed about the extra effort. In the end, however, it is worth investing the time. ETIAS makes it possible to control and tax travel to the Schengen area. Filling out the form is easy and can be done within a few minutes. However, there are always problems with certain states. Within Italy, there is one state that many people think is part of Italy, but it is not. We are talking about San Marino.

A Schengen visa entitles people outside the Schengen area to enter it. So far, most travellers should not care much about this. The Schengen visa is only required for residents of certain countries. These are countries which the German authorities consider to be particularly risky to enter. Other people have been allowed to enter without a visa until now.

 ETIAS does not replace the Schengen visa

On 23 June 2016, the British voted by a narrow majority to leave the EU. The official exit took place on 31 January 2020. There was a transition period until 31 December. Since 1 January 2021, the United Kingdom no longer belongs to the European Union. This means that the UK will be treated like any other country. For residents of the island who want to visit the EU, little will change for the time being. Citizens of many countries can enter the Schengen area without a visa. They only need a valid passport.
